I had made a 2 hour road trip and once I returned home, I felt moisture in the cleft of my buttocks. When I wiped it, visibly it was puss. My mother is an RN and told me I had to go to a suregeon immediately because it sounded like a PC. When I went to the surgeon, he agreed and surgery was scheduled. I had surgery on Monday to remove all the tissue and was told that because I was young, the site would heal quickly.
By Friday, I was feeling sick and in a a matter of hours, had spiked a worrisome fever. The surgeon sent me straight to the hospital tp be admitted. Saturday morning he looked, said it was infected and that I had to have another surgery to open the wound back up. I was then left open to heal. I was actually provided a Wound Vac to avoid the packing with gauze.
The Wound Vac was efficient but ended up not working about 3 weeks in. I have an office job and was off work for 3 full months. I was not completely healed by the time I returned to work, but the opening of the wound was less than an inch by the time I returned. It has been almost 4 years since my surgery and I will not regret having it done, but the scar tissue is painfull to sit on every day. If I sit too long or sit to one side, I feel the scar tissue “pop” when it moves around and it’s painful.
