Sydney’s story

February 24, 2020

I’m currently a 17 year old female! I had my pilonidal abscess lanced about a month and a half ago. That was the most pain I’ve ever been in in my life. I was sweating and crying it was so awfully painful. I have so much anxiety about it coming back every single day now.

I always look and touch the purple scars I have in the mirror to check for and redness or weird bumps. it aches every now and then if I sit for too long or workout while sitting down. I’m so scared of the abscess coming back but I have school to attend to I don’t have time to be out for surgery, I also have an odd fear of surgery. I got antibiotics for it when it was lanced, and there’s no physical signs of it coming back.

my mother, aunt, and grandfather all had this horrible cyst and only had it lanced. they didn’t get pilonidal sinus surgery. theirs never came back. I’m hoping I’m as lucky as they were, and my heart goes out to anyone who ever has to experience this… wish me luck!
