Tania’s story

January 8, 2011

Nine years ago I was freshman in college, age 17, had a cyst in my crack. Went to emergency room and had it drained, and packed, also put on antibiotics and pain medicine. Everything healed so I never really stressed about it again.

A few weeks ago I was feeling a lot of pressure on my tailbone, I thought I had just sat wrong too long, which I did, but a few days later a bubble appeared, went to the emergency room and the dr drained and packed it and told me to come back in two days and put me on pain meds. Went back and I was repacked and drained some more, and given more information about what I had and referred to a Colon & Rectal Surgeon who removed the packing two days later and told me to soak in a tub twice a week for two weeks until next visit, along with a pamphlet giving me full details on what I had. On last visit was told to soak a week more in the tub and to shave my backside and if it inflames again I would need surgery. He said I shouldn’t worry too much since it was 9 years between my first and last.

But of course it’s still stressful.
