Just giving an update on my post on March 13th. I had my second surgery exactly 3 weeks ago. It was much worse than last time – was in surgery for over 2 hours and they found a second cyst, close to the bone which had been draining through the original wound. They stitched my wound on two different levels – pressure stitches inside and tension stitches outside. My GP took out the tension stitches after 2 weeks which really hurt- left with a healthy dose of painkillers, but there was some relief pain-wise. Two days ago I saw my surgeon who removed the pressure stitches. He found an infection which he had to squeeze out. This was the worst part of the experience so far. He then packed the wound which I’ve to get done daily now by the public health nurse. The scariest part of it is that he thinks I might need another surgery. Hopefully I’ll find out next week when I see him again. The wound seems to be doing better than last time so I’m hoping I wont need the 3rd op, especially as my job seems to be getting touchy about the amount of time I’ve needed off. After finding this website I followed several peoples advise from their stories and stocked up on zinc supplements and followed a diet full of fresh fruit and veg which seems to make a difference with day to day pain and general wellbeing after surgery. Thanks for the info!
