Does anyone know of a good plastic surgeon, to perform the flap method in the DC area? What are the risks with flap method? I have had two procedures to remove the cyst, and I can recommend a surgeon in the Fort Myers southwest Florida area, and one in the DC metro area. Just ask. So 10 years ago, I had my first pilonidal cyst. It grew to the size of a golf ball because it was misdiagnosed for over a month. Finally I found a surgeon in the fort myers, florida area, that knew what it was and how to treat it. He performed an interesting surgery that my current surgeon is not familiar with. He removed the infection, left a permanent drain tube, stitched me up, and I was back to work in a week. The drain tube sounds scary, but it wasnâ�?�?t. You couldnâ�?�?t see it, or feel it. Occasionally I would notice some minor drainage in my underwear, this tells me it was working, and prevented another infection. I have no complaints about this procedure, I lived an active lifestyle, working out, running, no pain, I was as good as new. I liked it so much that when I had a reoccurrence, 10 years later, I asked to have it done again. But this surgeon had never heard of it, and was not willing to perform it. I couldnâ�?�?t see the original surgeon again because I moved to the DC area. So the second time around. The infection grew a lot faster than the first, and this time around it wasnâ�?�?t just a lump, it spread around the area I had my previous surgery. The surgeon, in the DC area, cut out the infection and removed dead muscled tissue. After the surgery I was left with a large wound. I had dressing changes every other day for about a month. I healed a lot faster than expected, the key was protein to rebuild the muscle tissue. Make protein shakes with fruit, the vitamins help too. So Iâ�?�?ve had two procedures. I liked the first one because I was back to an active lifestyle in a week. The second procedure has too much recovery time, and nothing to prevent a reoccurrence. My current surgeon is suggesting another procedure, the flap method, to prevent a reoccurrence. So here I am trying to learn from everyone elseâ�?�?s experience. Please recommend a plastic surgeon in the DC area for the flap method. Iâ�?�?d prefer to try laser hair removal, but I donâ�?�?t even know if this is a valid option.
