After 5 years of having TWO reoccurring pilonidal cysts (one on top left, the other 2 inches down on the right… with a connecting tunnel over the midline) I finally am having surgery. I had been telling myself that they would go away on their own for years without having to have surgery. Bad plan.
It has gotten to the point of hurting so badly when it flares (which is at least once a month now) that I cannot walk or do much of anything except lie uncomfortably on my tummy 🙁 I have my appointment with Dr. Christopher Smith in Milwaukee, WI on May 10th. I am getting so nervous and scared. I went in and told him I wanted to get a cleft lift but he insisted that I only have them taken out and stitched back up (?). Don’t know how thats gonna work. I’m mostly nervous about this way of going about it because I don’t want to go through this one more time.
I am a 24 year old single girl that does NOT want to be dealing with this embarrassing debilitating disease any longer! I cry all of the time about this and it has given me absolutely terrible social anxiety. Sigh. I would love some support on this site. Reading other’s stories makes me feel like I’m at least not completely alone in this uphill battle.
