Ok so there are a lot of stories on here and some of them really scared me as I’ve been a sufferer for 4 years and finally decided to get the cyst removed.
Post-operative recovery isn’t that bad. So they made a 3 inch long and 3 inch deep incision which was hard to hear but recovery went smoothly! The first week was very hard, not because of the pain but inability to move and lay on my back side.
But the second week was much better, especially after the stitches were removed. It took a couple of days to get used to sitting again.
The third week was good as well although as I was unable to sit longer than 2 hours. Words of advice: Turmeric and laying on your side are the key to a speedy recovery. Turmeric is antiseptic and stimulates healing. I’ve been putting a gauze pad on the wound for the last 4 weeks and it has definitely kept the area clean and dry, which is very VERY important (try to take two showers a day for the first month but do not shower for at least 3-4 days after surgery) and now it’s the 4th week now and i can say that the wound is healing nicely and I’m pain free.
Total recovery time is 2 months but I’m very happy I did the surgery and am no longer suffering from chronic pain. Just take care after the surgery and you should not have to worry about a thing. Also, try to get a primary excising with closure to minimize the healing time, open wounds take much longer. Also, if you’re worried about recurrence, just take the necessary precautions about keeping the area clean and you will be fine!
Good luck everyone and I hope your situation gets resolved.
