Ann’s story

November 11, 2011

it’s great that this site exists, but a lot of the stories here are really frightening to someone who is new to this. I would encourage people to write more positives- which I hope will help in your own personal healing as well.

I just found my cyst on Monday and was going to the doctor anyway because I’ve got pneumonia. She checked it out, told me what it was and referred me to a colorectal surgeon, whom I saw this morning. He was very understanding of the uncomfortable nature of this thing, and tried to be as gentle as possible. The worst part was the lidocaine. He lanced and drained what he said was a lot of infection, but was hopeful that this will do the trick.

A lot of your stories have really scared me about what is to come because it seems like future draining or surgery is kind of out of our own control. Thanks to those of you who recommended things like table salt and changed diet- I’m hopeful that those things will aid in my healing. I’m nervous because the draining was painful and just a few hours later, it continues to be so.

But, I’m hopeful that good care of the wound and positive thinking will help.
