Hi there- I’m very new to this and stumbled upon this while researching the situation with he cyst on my tailbone. Well, I’d guess I’d start with the beginning. The first time I found out I had this cyst was a few months ago, November 2014. It was very small but very painful, my regular doctor gave me medications for the infection and it seems to go away, it shrunk and was just a painless little bump there at the dimple above my butt crack. But, fast forward to a week ago, It came back, really fast, double in size and triple in pain. I just had it cut open an I guess drained a bit in my regular doctors office and it was the worst thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. Even though I guess the doc injected a numbing agent, I felt everything. She stuffed some gauze, gave me a prescription for ibuprofen and amoxacilin. its about 5 hours post draining and I don’t really feel anything, I suppose the numbing agent finally kicked in as I got home and I topped that with the ibuprofen. First questions I have – how long until I start feeling the immense pain again? I have to take my ibuprofen every 8 hours but I’ll take it an hour before it should start wearing off like I read when I searched google. 2 – I guess I’ll have to get it repacked tomorrow morning, but I was wondering if I should go to a walk in clinic and have a doctor do it, since my mom isn’t very comfortable doing it and is scared she’ll hurt me. 3 – did anyone else have trouble pooping when they first got it done? I am able to go now… but earlier today I had very bad stomach pains because I could not go. My mom gave me a stool softener and it helped. Now, my doctor said I have to go see a surgeon to get the “shell” removed so it doesnt come back. When I searched that up, I saw that a lot of people had their wound left open; and had to repack it daily, or they could have their wound closed right after surgery. Do I have the option? I’d prefer to have it closed… I can even deal with the open wound I have right now with gauze in it and my incision is very tiny. I can’t imagine having that open even more – and taking months for it to heal. I’ve never had any surgery before, so you can imagine how terrified I am. Not only that- but I am a senior in high school and I have a lot to do and what I read shows me that being left with the open wound to heal really holds you back and is extremely painful. I have absolutely no pain tolerance – today when I got it drained and I felt the doctor cut me open, I was left screaming, crying and hyperventilating for the next 3 hours until I fell asleep. I also have some other health issues – I’m currently awaiting a neurologist appointment due to me having non-stop painful migraines. I really can’t deal with both of these issues at the same time. I need to know the fastest and easiest surgical procedure that I can have done by a gentle surgeon. Lastly, to all you teens my age or parents of teens – how long were you out of school for after getting it drained/having surgery? I really can’t miss that much more school – i’ve already missed a lot due to my migraine issues. At this point I don’t care if I need to walk around with a walker and use a donut pillow at my desk – I just need to be in school. its the last semester of my senior year; I can’t miss out and fail because that would put college in jeopardy for me. I appreciate and help and advice given; I apologize for rambling, I’m extremely panicked over everything. I’d appreciate any peace for my mind.
