Ashley’s story

June 21, 2011

Hi. I am 27 years old and I had my first Pilonidal cyst 10 years ago. All I can remember is having the most horrible pain I have ever felt in my tailbone area and not being able to sit or lay down.

After complaining for about a week, my mom took me to the hospital where within 5 minutes of walking in the hospital, I was having surgery! Definately the worse part is having a hole the size of a baseball cut out your tailbone, feeling ever bit of it. That incision had to be packed for 6 weeks but came back a few months later.

Its now been 9 years since my last pilonidal cyst but I now suffer from Hidradenitis Suppertiva which is far worst because I can get up to 4 or 5 cysts at one time anywhere. The only solution is to surgically remove the cyst which I’ve had over 10 removed.

Don’t know how but I’m dealing with it. I guess it could be alot worse 🙂
