Beks’s story

November 28, 2013

I was 16 when I had my first flare up, it was december 19th and I was visiting london and then staying with my dad for a bit over the christmas period, I was in discomfort but no major pain.

I woke up on the 20th and felt sick with pain and could do nothing but lie on the sofa and keep moving around to gain a semi-comfortable position.Being a young girl I was embarrassed to tell my dad what was happening, until I woke up in the early hours of the 21st, I was in excruciating pain…no words will ever describe the pain I was in. I was taken to hospital later that morning, when my dad had decided that i wasn’t faking it or attention seeking.

A&E left me with a 5 hour wait because they messed the patient list up and left the most severe cases at the bottom, and my dad was the least bit supportive and without having my mam around at the time it was a distressing experience. I was taken for emergency surgery on the 22nd, as soon as my mam arrived at the hospital, and was left with an open wound, which was dressed on xmas eve, which again left me screaming in pain, and being told by nurses i was silly and that it didnt hurt (urm excuse me?! how do you gauge my pain levels again?)! It became severely infected in march and i was then left till august with an infection, until my next surgery which was stitched closed. it has nearly been a year and guess what!! its flaring up again, only more flare ups of abscess like boils are appearing over my breast and groin areas!

I have an MRI scan tomorrow and i will certainly be mentioning the research i’ve done and my own opinion on the condition i have. But ay LAUGH OR CRY YOU STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
