c smith’s story

April 27, 2015

My first cyst was 3years ago. Its never went away since then. It drained daily , made me sick and was red and itchy and swollen.

I finally decided to have surgery. A week a go today. April 21 2015. The surgery was about 2 hrs. He found 3other little cyst along with the major one. My incision is about 3 1/2 inches deep. I pack it 2 times daily after sitz baths with wet to dry gauze. The pain is no worse than the pai you already have daily living with it.

My heal time depends on how clean and dry I keep the area so far so good. Its healing nice. I just felt this was it. I couldn’t live with that cyst hurting me and flaring daily. I took 2 1/5 weeks off work. The first week u won’t really wanna do much. Plus no driving. I brought all my belongings and lots of pillows and cushions downstairs and camped out. No cooking. Or moving u need your rest.

As day 5 approached I starting walking little by little more and more keeping the blood flowing. Making sure not to do to much . keep your pain meds available and handy. I haven’t had to bad of a pain experience just here and there. But main thing is rest when u feel tired. Eat and drink plenty water.

Last but not least. Your bowels will nottttt be normal. Drink prune juice a cup a day beginning surgery post day. And after about day four your bowels will move. It will be very hard so try not to strain to may wound worse. Sitz baths helps with hemoroids. Keep drinking prune juice and u will be okay. Keep latex gloves handy for all dressing removal and placement and rest.

I hope this is helpful and I’m hoping this is the end of my cyst journey. A surgeon here in Ohio did my procedure. Im so thankful for this site. Many of the posts on here helped me and this us why I chose to share. Thank you
