I had my first encounter with this disease in 2011 when I was 18 years old. I had a very painful lump near the tailbone area and I was not sure what it was at first and I just ignored the pain. Eventually the pain got so bad I was unable to sit and after 4 days of dealing with it, sepsis started setting in. Evident through the Fever, chills and nausea I experienced.
On top of this my heart rate was really high only adding to my agony. I finally got it checked out at the ER and there they gave me a sedative and lanced it. After I had it lanced it had to repack the wound every two days for about two months. It sucked. Once it was all said and done I still had a small hole there and about three fistulae which never went away. In 2012 it returned and that is when I was referred to have it surgically removed. I
I had the surgery about 2 weeks ago. It was under general anaesthesia and it was a very painful recovery. The incision was straight down the middle and closed with stitches so as it healed I was very restricted in movements due to the pain. The only position possible was on my stomach and this caused a sore back. I am finally on the mend and it is just about healed, thank god! I really hope it does not return as it is the most annoying problem to have and it is also VERY painful.
