I had to start living with this disease in 2000 when I was in High School. It was never easy having to hide this from the other fellow students in gym class. I went to a general surgeon and had it drained and the doctor said as long as I took care of it I wouldn’t have a problem with it. I done what the doctor asked for several years there wasn’t any problems.
Then about three years ago it started hurting pretty bad. One day while using the restroom I noticed blood in the toilet and it had burst. It felt so much better after this so when it started hurting again I took it upon myself to burst it on my own. I then went for a check up with my PCP doctor and he said I need to get this taken care of A.S.A.P. I was scheduled for a check up with a surgeon at the end of May 2013 he then scheduled my surgery date for June 3rd. Nervous about the recovery from what I had read on this site and many others I decided to go through with it. I went in for Surgery at 6:30A.M and I was leaving the outpatient center at 9:45A.M with pain meds. I was looking to be in bed for days, later that day I was up walking around making sure not to bend over and lift anything extra heavy. I took the pain meds before actually having the pain.
It is now day 4 and i’m moving around and taking a shower in the morning and fixing my own meals. This is only day 4 but If i don’t have to go through bursting it on my own and having to worry about hiding it later in life then if I had to do it over again, you ask would I? I would for sure do it again.. Hope this helps the people wondering how the Surgery option is.
