Diana’s story

December 13, 2010

My 16 year old daughter was diagnosed with a Pilondal cyst in September 2007. She had it lanced and it was back within weeks.

In December of 2009 she went in for her first surgery. They fully excised the cyst and left a giant whole that needed to be packed. Very barbaric very painful. We did wound care religiously for 6 months, but it obviously was not healing. In December 2009, she went in for a Z-Plasty. Not as painful and did really well for 3 weeks and then infection set in. The doctor opened a small whole to let it drain. It was still not clearing up so he wanted to do it again. THis time he opened up a huge whole. Very Very painful and needed packing.

Then I found this web-site. We contacted Dr Basom in Eugene Or. He performed a cleft lift procedure in August. For the first time in 3 1/2 years she has had no pain, discharge or anything else that indicates the cyst is still there. One month later her younger brother was diagnosed with one. We are not waiting – he will be in Eugene Tues to have his removed by Dr. Bascom.
