Hi, I first noticed a lump in my cleft natal in June of this year, over the course of a few days the pain got worse, I then went to the doctor who diagnosed it as a pilonidal sinus. I was given antibiotics, it then burst and the pain went, over the course of the next few months I kept having recurring infections, in between I was referred to a surgeon. I had my pilonidal sinus removed 6 weeks ago with closed surgery and stitches off midline. The stitches healed well enough but I was left with a little hole at the end which now has to be covered with inadine and gauze. The scar is healing well but is still quite tender at times I cannot sit very comfortably for long periods of time, I have a coccyx cushion which I find irritates even further. Salt baths help relieve the itching and tenderness and also keeps the scar clean. For something so minor they can cause a lot of problems, ie missing a lot of work and social events. But the surgery was the best thing that I ever had done and it is no way near as painful as a flare up of the sinus, Good luck to anybody having the op or recovering from it:)
