Erin’s story

October 27, 2011

I’ve been dealing with PC for 8 years now. The DR lanced it open and then I had surgery shortly after. They closed it with stitches and i guess made a bad incision. For the next couple of years I had to have it drained and just dealt with the pain off and on. One random Friday I got really sick with a high fever, sick to my stomach, and pain from my tailbone. I spent all weekend in bed because I had so much pressure from my tailbone I couldn’t stand straight. My mom took me into see a surgeron Monday morning and I ending up having emergency surgery that afternoon because the infection so terrible! I was given a wound vac and at first I hated it and I was embarrassed to carry it around. It only took 4 weeks to close and I felt great.

Since then I’ve had the same issues with having to get it drained and dealing with a lot of pain off and on. 2 weeks ago yesterday I had my 3rd full surgery and this time I’m healing inside out! 🙁 worst thing ever!! At this point I feel like it’s never going to heal. I wish I had the wound vac back. Packing is the most painful thing I’ve felt in my life. Still have about 8 weeks of healing
