Thank you to the website creator(s) and all who have shared your stories. My pain just started 2 days ago and today I asked my good friend, an ER doc, about my symptoms. (I just relocated to a new town and don’t even have my own doctor here yet, so thank goodness I could talk to her about it.) She immediately told me it must be a P.C., which I had never heard of before. She said it can be extremely painful and will not subside or go away on its own–that I must get it checked out a.s.a.p. Of course, in her job she sees folks who come to the ER with a huge PC and experiencing a LOT of pain. Mine is slightly larger than a pea and is not yet intolerably painful. But I must say, after reading other stories I am worried. I have a 5 month old infant and a 3 yr old and have no family in town to help me out. My doctor friend said I will definitely be unable to care for my children without help–at least for a while–post-op. Yikes! I plan to see a doctor who I bet will probably start me on antibiotics and refer me to a surgeon.
Looking back, that area was very tender & a little swollen during pregnancy but I thought it was just pressure from the baby. I feel like the pain dissipated at one point; maybe its because it drained without me realizing it? Not sure if that’s possible. This is all new to me. I have no other typical “risk factors.” (I’m thin, don’t sit for long periods, no other skin issues or acne, etc., etc. so I wonder if I’m in the group of those with the congenital predisposition.) Maybe my recent pregnancy set it off? I wonder if anyone else had this condition start after pregnancy. Thank you all again for sharing. I’m a little worried but it sounds like some have had a horrible time, while others found success with surgery. Trying to stay positive…
