HS’s story

September 16, 2015

I noticed that all my sons shirts were being soiled. I look to see what it was and it was a little pin hole. It drained over the hole summer and he never told me. I took him to a wound care center and they were doing wound care on him after they opened it up. He was having wound care every week.

The measurement was 3CM and was not healing so they put a wound vac on him for a month with no results. The doctor finally sent me to an infectious disease doctor who referred my to a surgeon who had it removed during day surgery. He has had very little pain but his drainage was watery and light color for 5 days and all of a sudden it became a lot more and darker. I have called the surgeon’s office who said that was normal and it was a good thing that it is draining. The surgeon did close it with stiches and has a drain.

It has been 10 days since surgery and the draining is still going strong and its dark. It really concerns me especially because I have to wait another 6 days before he sees the surgeon again.
