In July went to the ER because I had a fever due to my PC. I went to the ER and they lanced it. The PC was pretty huge I would say a little bigger than a quarter in circumference.
Then 3 months later the PC came back but was a lot smaller. I went to a dermatologist and he told me to go to a surgeon. The surgeon told me what he planned to do and that it was pretty routine. To be honest I was scared shit. On the day of surgery which was 7 days ago I went into surgery to have the PC removed. This was my first surgerical experience. I was scared shit literally. I went to the bathroom 3 times. Once I was in the surgurical room I began to relaxed. Before I even knew it I was sediated. Roughly 45 minutes later I woke up and was carted off to the recover room. I felt very happy and confidence. I didn’t feel a thing, it was as if the surgery was never performed. The surgeon told me to removed the packing in two days and take sitz baths for about 20-30 mins twice per day.
Two days later, I began to remove the packing and I was astonished how much packaging came out. It seem to be 4-5 feet in length. I saw the gapping hole in back and I started to feel the fear I had pre surgery. I started to cry and wonder why I had this done even though I thoroughly researched it. Logically it was the correct decision, emotionally I felt I made the biggest mistake of my life. I went to a pyschologist and talked about my feelings and thoughts. I was cried for the entire 45 minute session. The thoughts hit my like a convoy of army trucks. I feel alone and aunerable. I am not invunerable as I arrogantly thought prior to surgery. That surgery happens to other people who dont take care of themselves. I felt The myth that I had created in my mind was shattered forever.
Now that 7 days have pasted I have come to grips with the surgery emotionally. I feel a millions times better that now I no longer have to be invunerable and I am not alone. I have family and friends who are providing emotional support. Even though 7 days have pasts, cleaning the wound and packing gauze twice day is starting to become routine. I still have a long road ahead to full recovery but I will get there one day at a time. Surgeon told me the recovery typically takes 6-8 weeks…it depends on your healing powers. I just hope I am packing the gauze correctly. I dont want bridging to happen or any infections. I investigaged the packing after removal and it appears to be clean and not infected. However, I am not a doctor but I do have the brain to research on the internet. I will see the surgeon this Thursday and I am keeping my fingers crossed.
