Please at least give Homeopathy a try before you have your first or second surgery. I “discovered” my pilonidal cyst pretty much the same way everyone else on here did. I noticed pain in my tailbone area and I was able to get it to drain before seeing a doctor. I was 16 and saw my pediatrician who referred me to a surgeon. I never had it lanced (probably because it was already draining).
The surgeon I met immediately said the only treatment option was surgery. After many reading websites like this, I was convinced surgery was the only “cure” and decided to go with it. The cyst was draining for about a month until I went in for surgery. On my 17th birthday I had a closed wound surgery (over thanksgiving break so that I was able to go back to school the following monday). My surgeon put in a drain to prevent infection and after a little less than 2 weeks I was feeling fine. Everything seemed to be recovered until about a year later when part of the scar began to drain.
My surgeon decided to give me applications of silver nitrate to promote healing (didn’t hurt that bad as I think some of the nerves were removed during the original surgery). After seeing him a couple of times and getting these treatments, it healed and wasn’t much of a problem for years. Every now and then the area would get irritated and even drain a little bit, but heal within a day or two. I always pretended to ignore it thinking it was going away and it worked for a few years.
I’m 22 now (5 years later) and the original area where the cyst drained – above my cleft – started to become inflamed and cause me discomfort. I was afraid the same thing was going to happen as when I first got it and it would eventually come to a head and drain non-stop. This was my biggest fear as it was extremely distracting and embarrassing. I’m VERY lucky I never had excruciating discomfort as other people have had on this website, but my biggest issue was the non-stop draining! I was preoccupied with changing the bandages, I was afraid to bend over if anyone saw the bandage, and I didn’t even think about getting intimate during these instances.
Well…it all came back again when 5 years later the cyst came to a head and started draining. I immediately called my doctor who didn’t have any easy remedies and I was afraid for him to recommend another surgery. I’ve read on here that people have had numerous surgeries that keep getting worse where the wound can’t heal. Every time you get surgery, the tissue gets weaker and it’s more difficult for it to heal. Like many of you I decided to look for alternative options. It seems like a scam, but the information was convincing and after reading other reviews, I decided to pay the $20 for information on a possible alternative “cure”. Michael Lynch, who runs the site, recommends a homeopathic treatment and unlike other homeopathy websites, he provides a ton of information on living healthy as well as a detailed step by step homeopathic treatment for pilonidal cysts.
I was skeptical, but given the alternative options, I was willing to give it a try. Michael Lynch claims to have done extensive research in homeopathic treatments and other natural remedies. After researching common homeopathic treatments and seeing so much variance in the treatment steps, I was more convinced he knew what he was talking about. (He actually had one that he was able to “cure” without surgery) The first step of his treatment involves opening up the cyst and considering mine was already draining, I skipped this step. I spent $30 for homeopathic medicine and began his treatment process. After 8 days on step 2 (draining the cyst from the inside out), my cyst had decreased in size and pain (I didn’t even notice it was there) and it finally had stopped draining. I couldn’t believe it. The first time around when I was 16, my cyst was non-stop draining for over a month and now only after 8 days it stopped. His treatment involves a third step which finishes the process and hopefully prevents further occurrences. I know this sounds like a sales pitch, but I’m really not trying to sell anything. I want to share so that I can give an alternative option to those considering surgery.
Just try it and if it doesn’t work you’ve only spent the cost of less than ONE doctors visit! I’ve spent $50 total for his guide and the medication and I’m seeing results. (His guide even gives tips for living a healthier life, aside from pilonidal cysts). My original surgery was over $3,000 and I was trying to avoid spending that again let alone damaging my body even more. In fact, I wish I tried this before my 1st surgery because I’m still left with ugly scars. I’m not bashing surgery, but if you are considering it, at least give this a try first! I haven’t had long term experience with this treatment so I am not saying it is a cure, but considering I wasn’t able to get my cyst to stop draining or decrease in size the first time, I am very happy with the results I am seeing now.
