Jonathon’s story

February 3, 2012

Hi, My name is lance I’m 26 going on 27 this month. It will be a year ago in a few days where everything change for me.

I woke up one morning and found a lump on the bottom of my tailbone and could barely move. Immediately I rush to my family doctor to have it check out and he just prescribed me antibiotics (bactrim)for a few weeks and said not to worry that should take care of it. Well a month went by and the lump stayed and the pain increased. Till one night it hurt so bad I went to the ER where the night surgeon lance it open to relief pressure. Immediately it felt better but within a few weeks it was back again. He refereed me to another doctor and he cut it open again and prescribe the same antibiotics as before.

Within two months the lump came back where I went to a specialist who handles Pilonidal cyst. Within a week of seeing him I was set up for surgery to have it remove. He decided to close the wound after surgery for faster healing time. My recovery was pretty fast maybe a month down then back at work. Everything was going good for a few months then I felt a knot under the scar tissue and I knew that it came back. So I called my doctor who did the surgery and he met with me right away. Before I knew it I was having surgery again this time he was gonna leave the wound open so it could heal from the inside/ out. I was bed rested about 2 months with a wound vac and nurse taking care of me around the clock. I was taking a lot of medication and life suck big time.

Finally it was time for the wound vac to come off and returned back to work my doctor stated. My wound was still open a little put he said it will close in time. Well after that I returned back to work and took very good care of my wound waiting on it to close. About three months later it never closed and I started to worry so I called him and told him it was still open and he blew it off and said it will close give it time. Well he pretty much pissed me off so I decided to go see the wound care center to get there opinion. Since then they have been taking care of me for about two months and it almost closed until yesterday they found a tunnel inside my scar where it open and now after a year later I’m going see another surgeon.

I can’t find the correct words to say to explain how I feel. All I can say after thousands of dollars spent, Countless doctor visits and the pain I’ve been in since this happen I’m starting to lose hope. I just want to say if anyone is going through this your not alone. My advice go straight to a specialist don’t waste time and money going to your family doctor and go to a couple different specialist before surgery to get different opinions. Hope this helps
