This is not the first time I’ve posted here but finally I hope it will be my last. For those who are reading for the first time I have suffered from this for 4 years now and after 2 lances, 3 bursts and 2 surgeries later I’ve had to find a final battle plan. After being referred to a specialist I found the best option would be to have the Karydakis Procedure. The surgery to end all surgeries. But this came as a struggle as I was informed to lose weight and quit smoking ( I was put on a waiting list). Well that didnt go to plan I quit smoking (reletively easy) but then losing weight became hard because I’m very sensitive to my scar and always afraid of overdoing it. But apart from that I had it flare up atleast 2times during my wait. It was during this time I found a link for it to reoccur. When I got really sick usually with tonsil it’s or throat infection within 2 weeks there was a 90% chance it was going to come back. The last time it return I was once again on my way to hospital when I got the phone call I’d been waiting for. I was going to have surgery. Karydakis procedure for those who don’t know is where they great a flap and off set to one side, reducing the risk of flare ups. Well here I am now 7 days later, finally being able to begin to sit. It had been a long 7 days I spent 1 night in hospital came home with 2 courses of antibiotics and 2 different painkillers and spent the next 7 days laying on my side or stomach. It hasn’t been easy but I keep thinking if this is the surgery to end it all it will be worth it. I go back to my surgeon next fortnight to see how it is healing but seeing I’m just beginning to sit I’m finding it a win. It will be a long ride, but I intend on going back to work next week and just move on now. Don’t worry ill be sharing if it returns or there is further developments. Good luck, and keep looking for that final move. Keep yourself surrounded by supportive people and stay strong even in moments of great pain.
