Lila’s story

August 29, 2014

The first time I realized I had this Pilonidal Cyst was in my Sophomore year of high school. I didn’t feel pain or anything but I realized there was a small protruding bump in my bum crack, I thought it was a pimple that would go away but it never did. It sometimes would act up and get swollen and irritated, release some puss and then it would go away and then get itchy, so it was a cycle of swollen cyst then release of puss and then itchy cyst.

One day I was sitting down and it felt wet I’m my bum crack and I realize that it was bleeding crazily (crazy because it was SOOO small, pea sized). I cleaned it and it never happened that bad again. The cyst was still there getting inflamed every once in a while and releasing the puss then getting itchy but it never bled like that again. But I was fed up with being uncomfortable all the time so I went to my doctor and he advised me to get surgery of it was bothering me too much so that’s what I did.

I had the surgery done about 10 days ago. He took everything out (he said it was more than he expected) and he stitched it up. The first few days were the post painful and uncomfortable but the medication helped. It’s also important to keep hydrated!!!!! Drinking a lot of water helped A TON. I’m still recovering, it’s a little funny to walk but it’s not bad at all, I get my stitches out in about a week and that would be that! Hopefully it doesn’t come back to bother me again, and to all of those with this problem,

I hope you’re not in too much pain, and if you decide to get surgery, I hope it goes well! Hopefully this post helps someone 🙂
