Hey guys- I’m new to this site. So I first realized I had a pilonidal cyst about 4 years ago , but after taking some antibiotics and using a cream I had gotten rid of it for a while . Eventually it began to flare up again and seemed to be getting worse everytime. I ignored it for months until finally I went to the doctors and got some antibiotics and cream again to help asymptomaticaly. He told me I should see a surgeon but after reading through all of these stories I must say I’m terrified. I’ve never gone to have it landed, I always managed poping it on my own ( bad I know ) but now I think surgery is my only option. My questions are what is the best/ least painful procedure and more importantly healing procedure as I’ve read horrible stories of open wounds. Which surgery should i look into for me as my first surgery – but if possible would like to make it my only surgery to finally get rid of this ? Also how painful is the procedure ? Will I be unconscious ? Last thing I live in houston texas so does any one know of any surgeon to reccomend me ? Sorry for the overload of questions it’s just I’m really nervous about this whole thing . I am a 19 year old male by the way.
