Quickly skimming these stories, I need to tell my 14 yr old’s story, because, I think some of the other commenter’s stories have gotten bad advice.
I live in Chapel Hill, NC. My son had a P. cyst, we waited to do the surgery because of sports. He just had the surgery, open wound, and I am packing it every day. Healing nicely, so far. I think the key is, GET IT All, go to a surgeon who is experienced, seriously. If your surgeon does not get the whole cyst, you will have reoccurring cysts. Unlike some of you, he stayed in the hospital for 2 nights, the nurses talked me through so much. I guess some of the wounds have been so big, they needed a wound vac, so I think some of you didn’t have the whole cyst removed.
I will keep you posted. In the mean time, my son has worn adult diapers, he LOVES that the embarrassment is not an issue, no leakage showing. Taping a pad is crazy. There is brand that catches the leakage, has been wearing them since the leaking started.
We are 10 days out, packing it, and almost no pain. UNC Hospitals are great, they do these surgeries all the time, my son’s experience was great. If you can’t afford it, just Do IT, you can pay later. That cyst will never heal, it has a brain, always growing. Worry about money later.
