I’m a 23 year old female. I got my first flare up at the end of February of this year. It swelled up to the size of a Golf Ball so I went to my Family Doctor’s Clinic and was given some medication and told if it got worse to go to the ER.
So the next day it got so painful I couldn’t sit or stand. I went to the ER and got it lanced. I was off work for two weeks while I recovered from the infection and the open wound. I then got a referal to a Surgeon. He saw me once a month till May when he decided since the wound still wasn’t healed he was going to re open it in case of an infection.
I was off for a few days from work. I went on antibiotics in July to see if it would help close the wound. It did help close it for a bit. In September I started to feel some more pain and went to see my Surgeon. He put me back on Antibiotics and scheduled me for a Ultrasound. The Antibiotics were not working and I was seeing him this past Monday in case he had to open it back up.
When he saw me he told me I will need surgery and he wants to do it as soon as he can. I am currently on a waitting list in case someone cancels their surgery. I am very nervous as I have never had surgery before and I am also so frustrated as I just want this medical problem to go away.
