Robert Dover’s story

January 6, 2011

I had PC surgery three weeks ago. The incision was 18cm and quite deep. The doctor did partial closure (five stitches leaving five 1 inch holes. Unlike what you see on the internet, I only missed work the day of the surgery.

The wounds needed to be packed twice daily and that was somewhat uncomfortable, particularly around days 4-7 after the surgery, but never unbearable, without any pain medicine. By day 8, the discomfort was much lower and by day 14 I was sleeping on my back. By day 21 (now), I have to remind myself that it’s still healing (one hole is all that’s left to heal) There was no issue with driving, getting around or any significant pain at any time. I took three doses of pain pills the entire time, and other than the digestive side effects, no other issues. Overall this was not anywhere near what folks describe. If you need to have this done, please don’t despair. Having four wisdom teeth pulled was worse!
