Well, after googling my problem I have come to this site, so I might as well share my experience. I am an 18 year old female I am half Dominican and half Guatemalan. I hear that girls take for their father, and I guess this was the case for me, for a girl I am hairy, just like my father.
Thanks to him, I’ve got a thick head of hair and thick black hair everywhere else (ha ha) The first time I ever started feeling that pain around the tailbone (yup we all know it) was during a road trip to Austin. I was 16 at the time and my friends mother was driving her daughter, some other friends and myself back home. We had gotten up early so we were asleep in the back of the car. I was sitting, more like slouching, in the middle and when I woke up I immediately felt the pain. I thought that it was just because I had been in the car for so long so I tried my best to sit up straight. The pain had come and gone but I really made nothing of it because I was still able to go about my daily activities. It was just something that came and went so I figured that I was going to have to live with that pain for the rest of my life. It wasn’t until I was 17 that I actually decided to feel down there and find the lump.
Once again I made nothing of it “I guess this is just the way I am” I thought to myself. When the pain faded I realized the bump faded too. This left me calm and I mean, I was always able to tell when it was about to start again “Oh looks like the bump is going to come back” I would say. But it just kept getting worse and worse with every time the bump would rise.
Fast forward to the start of October I had been living with the pain for 2 years now, and it had just kept getting worse. I couldn’t walk or sit down at all. I finally brought it up with my mother again for probably the second time ever, I mean, it was excruciating pain. We went to the emergency room and spent 3 hours there. And had to endure the clueless nurse poking me there “Oh my god you have a bump there!” is all she said. The doctor had no idea what it was and sent me to do X Ray. At the time I had no idea either but since nothing was in the X Ray, I was sent home with pain killers and muscle relaxers.
The next day, I went to my pediatrician, and right off the bat he had an idea as to what it was it began with a “It might be a pilonial cyst” he measured it and it was one inch in length and width. He made my appointment for the children’s hospital I had to wait another day. I was still in a lot of pain, but once I got to the hospital the doctor injected me with the numbing serum and drained the cyst. It was awkward, and awful especially because he had an assistant in there and he was showing her everything. I still felt a small pinch when he cut the cyst, but apparently he had cut the whole inch down (owch) then came the awful smell as he drained it…and he even casually showed me the gauze he was using to clean up. I felt faint as soon as I left…it took about 2 days for the pain to go away after
My story isn’t even over, I wish I could tell you all how it ends, but I myself don’t know, I’ve got my appointment back at the hospital tomorrow and that’s where they’re going to determine whether or not I’ll need more surgery and they’ll check and see what is it that caused this cyst in the first place. What makes it worse is that I can feel it wanting to come back…
Oh well Wish me luck~!
