Shay’s story

July 12, 2012

Whoa, I’m so happy to have found this site. I thought I was the only one going through this (or at least the only girl). I had my first experience with pilonidal cyst when I was 15 or 16 (can’t remember), I’m now 22 years old and I can tell I’m about to have a flare up. It’s scaring the crap out of me because I have the worst ones and they always end up cutting it open and the healing process with packing the wound until the opening closes, is just as bad.

I’ve seen a surgeon, but he just managed to scare me away. The thought of them taking out a chunk of my flesh and the healing time just scares me, but I don’t know how long I can continue to live with the flare ups. Sometimes I just get so angry and feel so disgusted that I have this condition. I don’t now what to do.
