I’m a 17 year old female, I first had this when I was 15, I’m currently recovering from one now. I had severe pain and I couldn’t sleep because of this. I feared going to the doctor and put it off at all costs because the surgery is just extremely painful. I’m not trying to scare anyone, but for me they kept putting needles in my bottom it hurt really bad. That’s why I didn’t want to go. But I finally did last Wednesday and it was worth it because I’m no longer in pain. I basically woke up early and we went to the ER in an ambulance because I couldn’t sit or lay on my bottom. The doctor put numbing cream on then came back two hours later and gave me several numbing shots. I didn’t feel the drainage but I seen it, it was red and smelled really bad. After all the stuff was squeezed out I felt relieved. For a couple weeks I couldn’t sit, and it felt great to be able to do it again. After it was drained it was packed with about 3 feet of packing. On the way home it hurt to get up, like feeling a tug when I stood, or a stab. But it was okay. I changed to guaze for a few days then the string accidently came out this morning. Its no longer draining anymore, but I’m still taking antibiotics, Cephlaxin and Sulfamethazone/Trim. I feel a lot better now. The only thing I regret is waiting to go to the hospital. I waited too long, and consequently, the pain was more intense. For anyone reading this, that has this, don’t be embarrased or afraid, go to the doctor right away. But I’m just still glad that I feel better now. That was the worst pain I’d ever been in.
