Hilton’s story

May 8, 2012

My son Hilton is 22 years old and has been suffering from pilonidal sinus since July 2011. He had the operation and had a VAC pump attached for about 3 months. There was a lot of pain and humiliation involved but you have to do what you have to do. It never really healed properly and in February this year it raised its ugly head again.

After seeing a different surgeon he advised that my son go for wound care every day and that should do the trick. Well it has been 3 months at about R2500.00 a month (which my medical aid does not cover) and seems to be getting worse. Hilton saw the surgeon again on Monday and is going back into hospital on Wednesday for another operation.

My son is so down and it is really starting to affect him. There seems to be no end for this horrible illness. Aparently he is going to have another pump attached and hopefully this time it will work. My heart bleeds for him as his quality of life is terrible. He cant sit for long periods, and always has to wear a pad as there is constant leakage. If there is anyone out there who can truley fix this I would love to hear from you.
