Lisa’s story

October 14, 2011

This is specifically addressed to ZACH and ESTER and to anyone reading this and suffering – or NOT suffering, but curious. I have had a PC since I was about 15 and I am 36. I am extremely active, cheerleader in HS, college, fitness instructor, personal trainer and I also sit at a desk so I am active and sedentary at times.

I have had my PC lanced numerous times over the years – drained..cleaned out…blah blah. I heard about surgery options at a younger age and was ALWAYS fearful and did NOT want to disrupt my lifestyle at all, rather deal with the pain. It wasn’t until an older adult that I got into fitness competition..stepped fitness up a notch, health, eating, diet – stopped partying, drinking etc. Mind you – I was healthy – everything in moderation, but now I am way more into health and wellness. I have seen a HUGE change in my PC – it went from relatively awful constant painful flairups..needing surgery -.to maybe once a year if that. I am still considering surgery only to avoid that annual flair up … BUT even those aren’t NEARLY as painful as they used to be.

Drinking plenty of water, completely cleaning up my diet, losing weight allowing that area of my body to be less THICK so my cheecks are actually leaner, so it doesn’t get as dirty (does that make sense) More air circulates there – really. I also use a topical tar like cream every once in a while that seems to keep any flair ups at bay, it really helps as well, keeping that area free of any underlying scum, it brings any ick to the surface ..

So a little extra work and I have changed my own life! Now I may still consider surgery .. but only because I do want it gone, but not because of ANY pain or flair ups or discomfort. I hope this helps!
